The proverbial saying - a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush used to mean that it is better to hold onto something one has than to risk losing it by trying to get something better. The idea behind this series comes from the idea that the "bird in your hand" can sometimes prevent you from attempting change or improvement in life for fear of losing that what you've got - potentially missing out for fear of challenging the status quo. Each piece in the series in progress will show a bird in hand surrounded by threats or discomforts.

Better to stay safe than take risks, and try something new? Maybe not.

All of my layered mixed-media collage take weeks or months to create. The surface is easily scratched, so when dusting, always use a soft cloth or compressed air. Each piece has wire or some other hardware on the back to hang on the wall. Due to differences in monitors, colours may vary slightly from actual collage.
